Revolution Disc Golf – Carolina Team Bag Review

Revolution has long been known as the "Cadillac" of disc golf bag manufacturers. The quality of materials and construction is really second-to-none.  When I got a chance to try out a Revolution Carolina Team Bag  I jumped at the opportunity. Is over $100 too steep of a price for a disc golf bag? Is this bag a luxury or a necessity? Let's find out...

I have been carrying around my FADE Gear Crunch Box for some time now.  I find that for a casual round I don't necessarily need huge amounts of space for accessories and discs. However, I can see how tournament play would certainly warrant more golf disc capacity. The Revolution Carolina TEAM bag comfortably fits up to 16 discs in the main compartment, 2 putters in the putter pocket, and you could even jam a few more in the spacious side pockets. I've seen friends stuff over 20 discs in this bad boy!

You could probably pick up a generic sports bag for a few bucks that would easily fit 20 discs, but what separates this bag from the pack is the amazing amount of extras. Some features that you just won't find on many other bags include:

  • Removable roll cage (the material has been strengthened after several complaints to Revolution)
  • Putter pocket that holds up to 2 discs
  • Quad-Shock hook ups
  • A rain flap to cover your discs/accessories
  • HUGE pockets (I ended up fitting a whole adult sized rain coat and a baseball hat in one)
  • Insulated drink holder
  • SUPER DURABLE MATERIAL - 1650 Denier Cordura to be exact
  • Mini disc pocket

Did I enjoy using this bag? Absolutely!

Am I going to jump out and buy one? We'll see.
Overall this is an awesome bag if you're the type of person that has an i-phone, built-in GPS, and blue-tooth headset. In other words, this bag was designed for disc golf gear-heads who appreciate life's finer things. If you're looking for a bag that will last forever and provide you with enough space to move a small bedroom, this is the bag for you. However, if you don't want to throw down close to $100 on a bag that will get tossed into the mud and chewed up by your dog, there are dozens of much cheaper options.

That being said...tax refunds should be arriving any week now. Why not save a small portion for an awesome disc golf bag?

Innova Starter Bag Review

The Innova Starter Disc Golf Bag is one of the first bags many disc golfers carry for a variety of reasons:

  1. It is very inexpensive ($15 retail)
  2. This disc golf bag is often included in a variety of beginner disc golf sets
  3. The bag is found in many big-box sports retailers

Let's start with some of the features that we like about this disc golf bag.  First of all, it comes in a few nice colors (blue, red, gray).  While this may not be important to some disc golfers, this can be a deal breaker for some.  More importantly this disc golf bag does hold about 10-12 discs, enough to satisfy a beginner or anyone who doesn't want to lug around a tournament set.  Finally, the Innova Starter Disc Golf Bag does have a nice little putter pocket which is big enough to hold one putter comfortably.  This pocket, along with several other compartments makes this a great disc golf bag to carry if you're only looking to carry 10-12 golf discs.

Some features that could use upgrading include the flimsy bottle holder. It is rather small and won't hold a lot of weight. Also, this disc golf bag has little to no structure. Hence, it is prone to falling over when not completely packed with golf discs.

Overall, for $15 a beginning disc golfer can't go wrong with this disc golf bag. It will provide golfers with enough features to keep them happy until it's time to upgrade to a more substantial disc golf bag.

Another Fade Gear Crunch Box Review

While scouring the internet for new and exciting disc golf gear I came across another review for the FADE Gear Crunch Box at SIDiscGolf.com. Click below to read their full article.

The gang over at SIDiscGolf.com also loves this bag. Obviously it is super durable and well made. You certainly can't beat the price on this bag considering the overall quality.

It's great to see some more disc golf bloggers appreciating awesome gear and promoting the sport. Check out their review. I only wish the good folks at FADE Gear sent me a free bag too! If you would like to read my original review click here.

Fade Gear Crunch Box Review

If you frequent this blog you have probably noticed I have been purchasing/reviewing a lot of new discs lately. Well...as you can imagine, my Innova starter bag has started to fill up. What better excuse to purchase a new Disc Golf bag?

The first thing you'll probably notice is the gorgeous color of this disc golf bag. Well...Fade Gear calls it "pumpkin" and I promise you it looks even better in person. Not an orange fan? No worries, the Fade Gear Crunch Box is available in a rainbow of exciting hues.

The Fade Gear Crunch Box holds about 15 discs comfortably if you include the nicely-sized putter pocket. It is structured very well and stands on its own nicely, whether filled or empty. The bag features very nice raised pockets. Fade Gear claims that this will prevent the pockets from wearing down. Furthermore, the bottom of the bag has nice little "feet" that prevent the bottom from rubbing against the ground of your local disc golf course. These are really neat ideas. I will let you know how the bag holds up in the future.

The Fade Gear Crunch Box's water bottle holder is very large and has an adjustable cord on top so your bottle stays secure.  The other side pocket is also nicely -sized and will easily fit your wallet, phone, keys, or whatever. items you may not want to carry in your pants pockets.

Some other nice features include a mini-disc holder, towel/key clip, pencil holders, and a few other nice little pockets for miscellaneous items.

My favorite part about the Fade Gear Crunch Box (besides that beautiful color?) was the price. I picked it up for $29.99 online with free shipping. This bag is really nicely priced compared to similar bags on the market. I would definitely recommend one to any fellow disc golf traveler.

If the 10-15 disc capacity isn't enough for you, Fade Gear makes similarly styled larger bags for tournament play. Check one out using one of the links to the left. These bags are carried by most major disc golf online retailers. Am I being paid to plug Fade Gear? No...but I really do like this bag!
